Food Technology

Food Technology is creative and innovative subject which use food as the medium for designing.

Whilst students will learn some basic and advanced cooking skills, they will be encouraged to tap into their imaginative side in order to explore the use of food as a material with which to design new products.

In KS 3 students will  learn about:

  • Safety in the kitchen
  • Food hygiene
  • Healthy eating
  • Local and seasonal product
  • Fairtrade

In KS 4 students become much more skilful and are encourage to develop their research and investigative skills whilst exploring the food industry in depth.

As a practical subject a range of extracurricular activities are offered including:

  • Cookery Clubs
  • The Big Lunch Project
  • London Trip (to explore careers in Design and Technology).
