Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy

Headteacher's Welcome

I would like to welcome you to Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy and our school website. I hope you find the information provided to be useful and that it gives you a flavour of the school and its students. Our Christian community has the well-being, development and academic progression of all of our students at the core of all that we endeavour to do. This is underpinned by the pursuance of rigorous standards each and every day. The school community is supportive and nurturing, whilst at the same time providing challenge and aspiration.

Worship is central to the life of our students and staff at Bishop Rawstorne and we gently remind students daily of the Christian values and how these values can help to enhance their lives and those of others. Our chaplaincy team ensure there are plenty of opportunities to worship and we continue to challenge students to explore where they are within their own faith journey.

In the summer our students once again achieved a very pleasing set of GCSE results, with 87% achieving A*-C grades in English and Maths, a progress 8 score of 0.36 and 47% achieving the EBacc. Once again these results are testament to the hard work and shared vision of our students, staff, governors and parents.

Our Teaching School continues to thrive with opportunities for our staff to grow through training prospective teachers and supporting schools regionally and nationally to improve their performance. As recognition of this work we were awarded National Support School status last year by the National College for Teaching and Leadership and I am now a National Leader of Education. This enables us to continue supporting schools and at the same time help us to grow as we learn from the schools who we are supporting.

I look forward to meeting you at different points over the next year as we work together to enhance outcomes for your children. I hope you enjoy the website and if you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
