Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy

House System

In September 2015 Bishop Rawstorne introduced a house system. The system is based around six houses that are all linked to previous Bishops of Blackburn. These are:

The house system is vertical, incorporating one form per year for each house.  Competitions will range from quizzes, sports day, subject competitions, inter house sports, games, and more.

The house system is used in the school to promote achievement of the students in its widest form in a totally positive way, from the classroom to the sports field, from helping out around the school, to quizzes. It is promoted by positive competition and by committed staff and house captains. Through the house system, students are encouraged to develop quality relationships and we believe it will foster a sense of togetherness, and an awareness of corporate responsibility.

The variety of activities on offer will attract students with a range of different skills helping to ensure everyone has something to contribute to the house system.
