Extra-Curricular Activities
Bishop Rawstorne offers a rich and varied range of extra-curricular activities which provide students with additional opportunities for personal growth, self-development and achievement, as well as improved self-esteem. Other benefits of getting involved include:
- Development of essential life skills such as goal setting, team work, time management, problem solving, analytical thinking, leadership and public speaking.
- Creation of new experiences and broader perspectives and increased social opportunities by widening of friendship circles.
- Keeping active and burning off energy whilst learning a new skill or unlocking a passion or talent within a fun environment.
- Improved academic performance and overall outlook on school.
- They can also be something to put on CV's or to help with future college, apprenticeship or job applications.
In addition to the above, students can earn 3 points for every club they attend which accumulate and are added to their achievement points total. Students can also become eligible to achieve an 'Ambassador' award whilst representing Bishops at events or competitions - visit our Awards page for more details: https://bishopr.co.uk/parents/awards.
Personal Enrichment Passport (PEP) Booklet
The Personal Enrichment Passport (PEP) is a new initiative for 2024-2025 which aims to encourage and support students in becoming involved in the wider community of Bishop Rawstorne. This helps them to grow and develop as young people through their engagement with extra-curricular activities across curriculum areas and the enrichment opportunities we offer throughout the academic year.
The PEP is a document which students can use throughout their school journey to help them:
- Learn more about the school values and how they can get make the most out all the enrichment opportunities that are available to them at Bishop Rawstorne.
- Each year make ‘pledges’ - committments or undertakings to improve an area of their life - and then reflect back at their achievements at the end of the year.
- At the back of the PEP, record everything they have done, inside and outside of school. This can be used to help them write applications, personal statements, CVs and references in the future.
This initiative is currently open to all Year 7 and Year 8 students, all of whom will receive a copy of the booklet and take part in their first 'Pledge Week' in the 3rd week of new school year. They will then make new 'pledges' in the Spring and Summer terms.
Please click on the image to view the booklet and have a chat with your child about their 'pledges' and encourage them to get involved!
